Responsibilities
- Understand the existing system, data model, constraints, and project scope.
- Design the system architecture, components, services, data flows, APIs, data access, security and authorization model, error handling, logging, monitoring, deployment, and testing strategy.
- Build a searchable and filterable job operations web application with job investigation, operational control, ticket integration, dashboards, and alerts.
- Implement frontend, services, APIs, data integrations, testing, deployment, and secure credential handling using production engineering practices.
- Write unit, API, integration, frontend, and end-to-end tests, including failure-path coverage.
- Produce architecture, setup, deployment, configuration, API reference, troubleshooting, limitations, and handover documentation.
- Present and defend design, progress, and findings to Horizon Quantum engineers and the wider team.
Requirements
- Be in the final year of a computer science, software engineering, or related degree, or enrolled in a master's programme.
- Have solid programming ability in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a comparable language.
- Have familiarity with web application development and relational databases.
- Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication, self-direction, follow-through, and the ability to clarify a system's purpose before building it.
- React, FastAPI, or PostgreSQL experience is useful but not essential.
- Experience with REST API design, testing frameworks, Docker, or CI/CD is useful but not essential.
- Prior exposure to production systems, monitoring, or on-call work is useful but not essential.
- Quantum computing experience is not required; curiosity about quantum computing is valued.
