Responsibilities
- Design onboard motion planning with obstacle avoidance, replanning, and perception-aware planning.
- Generate dynamically feasible trajectories and references within airframe and actuator limits.
- Design guidance laws that steer and hold the aircraft along planned references.
- Own interfaces with navigation and perception inputs, including latency, rate, and dropout handling.
- Implement mode and failsafe logic for cruise, loiter, approach, and lost-link scenarios.
- Verify systems through simulation, SITL, HITL, and Monte Carlo campaigns, then iterate using flight-test logs.
- Mentor junior engineers depending on seniority.
Requirements
- Strong academic record with a degree in aerospace, robotics, GNC, or a related STEM field.
- Proven experience with onboard motion planning, trajectory generation, tracking, and guidance laws on flying platforms.
- Hands-on experience closing a control loop on perception outputs while handling latency and dropout.
- Familiarity with learning-based planning or guidance and simulation-based training.
- Pragmatic systems thinking, disciplined simulation and validation practices, and clear technical communication.
- Experience with vision-based or perception-coupled guidance is a bonus.
