Responsibilities

  • Diagnose business problems, map workflows, identify constraints, and determine whether AI is the appropriate solution.
  • Own AI initiatives from stakeholder discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment, measurement, and iteration.
  • Design, develop, and ship AI-powered solutions and working prototypes focused on practical business outcomes.
  • Build integrations between AI capabilities and existing enterprise systems and workflows using APIs, orchestration tools, and AI platforms.
  • Improve organizational flow by reducing bottlenecks, shortening lead times, increasing throughput, and tracking adoption, ROI, and flow metrics.
  • Use GitLab AI offerings as a customer zero and provide real-world usage insights to research and development teams.
  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on constraints, goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Evaluate tools, document technical patterns, and create reusable foundations that scale the team’s impact.
  • Apply guardrails and risk controls to address misuse, unintended consequences, prompt injection, and data leakage.

Requirements

  • Strong coding ability with production-quality end-to-end development and debugging skills.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern scripting language, such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and integration patterns.
  • Practical experience with prompt engineering, context management, multi-turn interactions, and output evaluation.
  • Understanding of model selection, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, context-window trade-offs, and cost-performance decisions.
  • Experience with agentic architecture patterns, including tool use, multi-agent orchestration, human-in-the-loop designs, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and reliability patterns.
  • Hands-on familiarity with models and tools from Anthropic, OpenAI, and open-source alternatives.
  • Knowledge of AI safety practices including input validation, output filtering, access controls, prompt-injection defenses, and data-leakage prevention.
  • Ability to map complex workflows, identify constraints and bottlenecks, and trace issues to root causes.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and workflows, including CRM, marketing automation, support platforms, orchestration tools, AI platforms, and enterprise search.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across diverse business functions and independently own ambiguous initiatives through measurable outcomes.
  • Product mindset with the ability to scope MVPs, prioritize, deliver iteratively, and consider adoption and user experience.
  • Experience with the GitLab platform and CI/CD workflows is preferred.
  • Consulting, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with value stream mapping, flow metrics, or Theory of Constraints thinking is preferred.
  • Experience with low-code/no-code orchestration tools such as n8n, Make, or Workato is preferred.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or leading technical projects with junior engineers is preferred.

About GitLab

1,001-5,000 employees

GitLab is the Intelligent Orchestration Platform where software teams and their AI agents stay in flow to amplify their capacity for innovation. Together, they automate repetitive tasks to plan, build, secure, test, deploy and maintain software. With GitLab, software teams spend less time on coordination overhead and more time on the next big idea. GitLab Duo Agent Platform provides AI agents that automate tasks across the software lifecycle. Agents handle code generation, security analysis, code review, CI/CD troubleshooting, and custom workflows — while teams maintain control through enterprise governance. Build what's next with us.
