Base Salary
$185k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect audio-processing pipelines at the embedded-system level.
- Design, implement, integrate, validate, adapt, and tune DSP algorithms for embedded real-time platforms.
- Provide subject-matter expertise and technical guidance on audio and signal-processing algorithms across electrical, mechanical, industrial design, and software teams.
- Research, specify, select, and characterize electroacoustic components including microphones and speakers.
- Conduct prototype builds, hardware bring-up, profiling, optimization, simulation, and audio-subsystem design iterations.
- Design manufacturing test fixtures and production test plans, and perform yield analysis and test-to-spec validation.
- Manage external audio and acoustics consultants, define statements of work, and integrate third-party acoustic design inputs.
- Partner with vendors on testing and production activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, systems, software, and product management teams.
- Mentor engineers and lead technical design or architecture efforts.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 5 years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- At least 5 years of leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems.
- At least 7 years of developing DSP algorithms for embedded or real-time systems.
- Experience mentoring, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python or MATLAB for signal-processing algorithm development.
- Experience selecting and characterizing microphones and speakers.
- Deep knowledge of time/frequency duality, discrete-time signal processing, and fixed- and floating-point implementation.
- Experience with ML architecture design, data analysis, and training or evaluation methodologies for audio systems.
- Experience with board bring-up, embedded-system debugging, profiling, optimization, simulation, manufacturing test fixture design, production test plans, yield analysis, and test-to-spec validation.
- Experience using audio lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and motor test benches.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Audio/Acoustics, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: familiarity with mechanical integration of electroacoustic components.
- Preferred: experience with signal detection and estimation, spatial audio, direction-of-arrival estimation, acoustic event detection, keyword spotting, or ML for embedded systems.
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams at all organizational levels.
