Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage high-availability PostgreSQL architectures, including replication, clustering, and automated failover.
- Develop, execute, and test disaster recovery plans with automated backups and point-in-time recovery procedures.
- Architect, model, and deploy scalable database schemas aligned with application requirements and business logic.
- Deploy and manage PostgreSQL databases in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments while optimizing cost, performance, and security.
- Write, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries using indexing, partitioning, and execution-plan analysis.
- Own database health, migrations, and data integrity from development through production deployment.
- Use AI tools to improve development workflows and collaborate on database integration with AI/ML pipelines, including vector extensions such as pgvector.
- Evaluate and pilot new database engines, NoSQL solutions, and modern technology stacks.
Requirements
- 3 to 10 years of proven, hands-on professional experience working extensively with PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Deep knowledge of database replication, high-availability setups such as Patroni and PgBouncer, and disaster recovery planning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and managed database services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, or Google Cloud SQL.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, ACID compliance, normalization, and advanced SQL querying.
- Basic proficiency or working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Node.js, Java, or Bash.
- Ability to take ownership, manage multiple priorities, and deliver robust solutions with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, or DynamoDB is preferred.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts, AI-enabled application features, or AI coding assistants is preferred.
- Willingness to learn new programming languages and adopt emerging technologies as project needs evolve.
