Responsibilities
- Build and evolve reusable platform capabilities and services that help teams detect and respond to emerging abuse patterns at scale.
- Shape platform architecture and technical strategy while balancing scalability, latency, cost, complexity, and maintainability.
- Partner with Product, Analytics, Trust & Safety, and Engineering teams to identify and address abuse patterns.
- Own problems and projects end to end, from opportunity identification and solution definition through delivery.
- Drive architecture discussions and improve engineering practices, processes, and tooling.
- Debug complex issues across data pipelines and distributed systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and availability.
Requirements
- Extensive professional software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven backend systems at scale.
- Strong professional experience with Go; Scala or another programming language is a plus.
- Experience designing APIs and backend services used by multiple client platforms.
- Strong SQL skills for large datasets, including BigQuery or similar systems.
- Knowledge of API communication patterns such as gRPC and GraphQL.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, cloud-native environments such as AWS or GCP, distributed data processing and ETL pipelines, metrics, and ML infrastructure.
- Experience with microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases, and container technologies.
- Experience with continuous delivery, defensive programming, automated testing, security, and clean code principles.
- Experience in abuse prevention, fraud detection, or Trust & Safety is a plus.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
