Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services in Rust and client-side codebases in Rust, Kotlin, and Swift.
- Build and operate systems that process high traffic and large volumes of location data.
- Improve scalability, reliability, performance, accuracy, battery efficiency, and privacy compliance.
- Support iPhone and Android devices across operating-system versions and OEM variants.
- Implement and optimize location collection using Wi-Fi, network signals, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Build internal analytics dashboards, debugging utilities, and per-user analysis tools.
- Monitor system metrics, triage bugs, address performance issues, and strengthen testing, observability, and documentation.
- Senior engineers will take ownership of the location platform, evolve the stack, mentor others, and drive technical improvements.
Requirements
- Solid foundations in low-level programming or backend development are required.
- Strong Rust proficiency or experience is preferred.
- Experience with Kotlin or Swift and the ability to work across backend and client-side code are preferred.
- Familiarity with battery optimization, privacy-aware engineering, mobile systems, location technologies, or distributed infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience with iOS and Android location APIs is preferred.
- Familiarity with custom ROMs or reverse engineering is preferred.
- Prior experience with location services, mobile OS internals, or performance optimization is preferred.
- Exposure to networking fundamentals and distributed systems is preferred.
