Base Salary
$135k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize Kong Gateway including routes, services, and plugins.
- Build and extend Kong plugins and manage Kong in Kubernetes.
- Define API standards and manage OpenAPI contracts and governance.
- Implement authentication and security patterns such as JWT and claims mapping.
- Build and operate Kubernetes resources and manage AWS networking.
- Implement CI/CD and GitOps workflows for automated validation.
- Deliver observability through API metering and reporting.
- Troubleshoot Linux/container issues and support on-call operations.
Requirements
- Production experience administering Kong Gateway.
- Experience building/extending Kong plugins and knowledge of gateway policies.
- Strong API design background and expert-level OpenAPI skills.
- Experience with API governance including linting and contract testing.
- Kubernetes deployment and troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices such as GitOps and CI/CD.
- Expertise in authentication with JWT and enterprise identity systems.
