Responsibilities
- Own the target architecture for the .NET Core microservices platform, including service boundaries, communication patterns, data ownership, and service evolution.
- Make and document architecture decisions and lead architecture reviews across teams.
- Design resilient service-to-service communication using REST, gRPC, and asynchronous messaging with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Define data strategies for PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, and TimescaleDB, including schema design, indexing, connection handling, and scaling.
- Establish observability standards for tracing, metrics, and logs.
- Shape Kubernetes deployment practices, including service mesh, service discovery, and blue/green and canary rollouts.
- Lead profiling, benchmarking, performance optimization, and bottleneck resolution across services.
- Set coding, testing, and CI/CD standards and mentor senior and mid-level developers.
- Handle complex production incidents and drive root-cause fixes into the architecture.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend development experience, including 4+ years designing and operating microservices at scale.
- 3+ years in an architect, principal, or technical lead role making design decisions across multiple teams.
- Expert-level .NET Core, C#, and PostgreSQL experience.
- Strong experience with Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, CQRS, and Event Sourcing.
- Deep knowledge of REST, gRPC, Kafka or RabbitMQ, and distributed-system resilience patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container-based deployments.
- Experience implementing observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, or similar tools.
- Proven performance profiling and optimization experience in large-scale systems.
- Experience designing systems on at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to engineers and non-technical leaders.
- Preferred experience with Istio, Consul, or another service mesh.
- Preferred familiarity with Terraform, Helm, additional databases, and modernizing or consolidating service architectures.
