Base Salary

$87k - $166k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own operating state machines, mode management, and supervisory coordination across multiple controllers.
  • Implement high-voltage sequencing, including precharge, contactor control, contactor diagnostics, and interlock handling.
  • Develop battery protection strategies for voltage, current, temperature, isolation loss, and thermal events.
  • Calculate and arbitrate current and power limits, including derating and coordination across system levels.
  • Implement cell-balancing demand logic and coordinate balancing across modules and strings.
  • Develop thermal management controls, actuation strategies, setpoints, and thermal diagnostics.
  • Aggregate measured and estimated states and propagate faults and annunciations to external systems.
  • Own diagnostic strategy covering fault detection, debounce, classification, storage, clearing, and reporting.
  • Integrate and calibrate estimation models and own the production calibration parameter set and documentation.
  • Develop application software using model-based development, production code generation, and hand-written C where appropriate.
  • Author requirements and design documentation traceable to system requirements and support safety and security analyses.
  • Support validation debugging, root-cause analysis, and field-issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing embedded application or control software for electronic control units.
  • Proficiency in model-based development with production code generation and working ability in C.
  • Demonstrated production-program experience designing state machines, sequencing, and diagnostic strategies.
  • Experience with requirements-driven development, traceability, unit testing, and code reviews.
  • Ability to debug control behavior directly on hardware, benches, and instrumentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls, or a related technical field.
  • Preferred experience includes battery management controls, high-voltage systems, functional safety processes, calibration, distributed-controller coordination, and thermal management control strategy.
