Responsibilities
- Lead by example as a hands-on quality engineering practitioner across the software testing lifecycle.
- Design and execute test scenarios, scripts, and test data requirements, including for external and third-party systems.
- Shape and implement test automation strategies using industry best practices.
- Develop automated tests using Java, Scala, .NET, or JavaScript.
- Apply and advocate for testing approaches including TDD and BDD.
- Perform and support API, functional, system, performance, security, accessibility, and user-interface testing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, developers, and product teams to influence solution design and delivery planning.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and promote technical excellence, wellbeing, and professional development.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of QA processes, test design, and multiple test levels.
- Hands-on experience using and maintaining automated test frameworks such as Cucumber and JUnit.
- Knowledge of stubbing and mocking frameworks such as Wiremock.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong experience with iterative or incremental software delivery.
- Hands-on experience across all levels of the test automation pyramid.
- Experience with API testing tools and functional or system testing.
- Experience using project management tooling such as JIRA.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and strong written, oral, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Successful appointment requires Security Check (SC) clearance, including continuous UK residence for the last five years and satisfaction of other eligibility criteria.
- Lead-level candidates additionally need advanced technical expertise, engineering project leadership, quality strategy experience, and the ability to coach and develop engineers.
