Base Salary
$212k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve architecture for AirCover policy, coverage, enrollment, regional rules, and experimentation systems.
- Build scalable, flexible, highly available, auditable backend services for multi-region and regulated environments.
- Lead development of experimentation capabilities for insurance offers, pricing, and placement, including measurement of attach rates and downstream outcomes.
- Lead engineers across teams, own significant technical scope, make architectural trade-offs, and mentor engineers as a player/coach.
- Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, data engineers, legal partners, and platform teams to shape requirements and engineering decisions.
- Write and review designs and code, improve technical quality and production operations, analyze conversion and coverage data, and present technical and product deep dives.
Requirements
- 9+ years of relevant software development experience, or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
- Expertise in backend systems and large-scale, service-oriented architectures, with practical experience in Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or a similar language.
- Experience designing multi-region or multi-tenant platforms with configurable, rules-driven behavior.
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation systems and using data to improve conversion or attach rates.
- Proficiency designing and operating high-performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging, plus working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Hands-on technical leadership across multiple teams and strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in insurance, payments, fintech, or another regulated domain is preferred.
