Responsibilities
- Help manage the lifecycle of a fleet exceeding 400,000 compute cores, from CI provisioning through automated and AI-enhanced maintenance.
- Suggest, test, and deploy large-scale configuration changes to production.
- Operate and maintain configuration-management infrastructure using Foreman, Puppet, and OpenVox.
- Develop and maintain Terraform/OpenTofu modules for provisioning and configuring supporting infrastructure.
- Improve configuration-code quality through testing, validation, code review, and standardization.
- Monitor infrastructure for LLM-enhanced security threats and contribute to self-healing and automated operations.
Requirements
- Recent graduate with a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computer Science or a related field.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; applicants without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible.
- Experience administering or working with Linux systems in a server or data-centre environment.
- Experience writing scripts or applications for automation or system tasks.
- Knowledge of Linux and programming or scripting languages such as Python or Go.
- Familiarity with Git for distributed version control is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of configuration-management tools such as Puppet or Ansible is desirable.
- Experience with container technologies, CI/CD systems, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of batch systems such as HTCondor, SLURM, or kueue is a plus.
- English proficiency and a commitment to learn French.
- Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and must not previously have held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
