Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Open Journal Systems application and plugins.
  • Test integrations with external services and contribute improvements to OJS and related open-source projects.
  • Deploy and maintain Open Research Europe infrastructure using Kubernetes or OpenShift and automated CI/CD workflows.
  • Perform system testing, performance checks, procedure documentation, and day-to-day operational support.
  • Participate in standby duty and, when required, work nights, Sundays, and official holidays.

Requirements

  • Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree; applicants without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible.
  • Demonstrated web application development experience, particularly with PHP and Laravel.
  • Experience with PHP, Python, and MySQL.
  • Experience with containerized infrastructure and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of system administration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation such as Helm and GitLab CI is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OJS source code, plugins, and workflows is preferred.
  • English proficiency and a commitment to learn French.
  • Nationality of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and no prior CERN fellow or graduate contract.
