Responsibilities

  • Integrate backup orchestration with disk and tape storage.
  • Develop and maintain client and server software in C++ and Linux.
  • Perform systems integration, configuration management, testing, monitoring, and alerting for the backup system.
  • Contribute to migration planning for existing services.
  • Participate in operations, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and team support.
  • Contribute to procedures and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; applicants without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible.
  • Have no more than two years of professional experience since graduation and have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
  • Experience with C++ and Python software development on Linux.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems administration and Bash and Python scripting.
  • English proficiency and commitment to learn French.
  • Experience with S3 object storage is desirable.
  • Ceph, systems integration, backup systems, tiered storage, S3 API and Glacier extensions, SQL databases, Git, Kubernetes, Grafana, and Prometheus are advantageous.
