Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate authorization primitives including roles, policies, and fine-grained RBAC/ReBAC permission checks.
- Build authentication, SSO, OAuth, and OIDC flows.
- Ensure strict multi-tenant isolation across customer data and decisions.
- Optimize permission checks in the hot path of millions of automated decisions per day.
- Build audit and access-trail capabilities for customers and auditors.
- Design access-control systems for regulated-industry requirements including financial services, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and data residency.
- Develop IAM and permissions features across React/TypeScript frontends and Python/FastAPI backend services on AWS serverless architecture.
- Maintain security-critical systems, conduct thorough code reviews, and invest in test automation.
- Collaborate through team syncs, planning, demos, and technical deep dives while expanding ownership of IAM and permissions systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional full-stack engineering experience with strong React and TypeScript proficiency.
- Professional experience building backend services in Python, preferably with FastAPI or an equivalent framework, including APIs and databases.
- Experience integrating with AWS or similar cloud providers.
- Exposure to authentication and authorization concepts including RBAC, SSO, OAuth/OIDC, and multi-tenant permissions.
- Strong engineering fundamentals, with emphasis on simplicity and precision.
- Fluent written and spoken English for effective remote collaboration and interaction with AI tools.
- Deeper backend experience with asynchronous patterns, performance tuning, or data modeling is preferred.
- Experience with DynamoDB or Postgres and SQLAlchemy is preferred.
- Hands-on experience designing authorization systems at scale, including fine-grained or ReBAC models, OpenFGA, Zanzibar-style systems, OPA, or enterprise SaaS RBAC is preferred.
- Prior operations or on-call experience is preferred.
