Responsibilities
- Design and implement authentication, JWT validation, authorization, and entitlement enforcement for dataset, field, and channel access.
- Build and maintain the Redis/Memorystore entitlement decision cache with invalidation and sub-10ms authorization overhead targets.
- Standardize API error handling and configure Apigee authentication pass-through, tier-based rate limiting, and rate-limit headers.
- Develop catalog, data access, query, sample, usage-summary, and asynchronous bulk-export APIs.
- Implement cursor pagination, query filtering, synchronous and asynchronous Query Accelerator paths, and descriptor caching.
- Build non-blocking usage-event emission and an MCP tool-definition generator synchronized with the OpenAPI contract through CI.
- Contribute to API design, including the OpenAPI v1 contract, query and pagination grammar, authorization architecture, and MCP schemas.
- Write unit, contract, and integration tests and deploy containerized services on GCP.
Requirements
- GCP is mandatory, including hands-on experience building and deploying services on GCP.
- Familiarity with Cloud Run, IAM, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, and GCP networking such as PSC/VPC.
- Strong Java 17+ and modern JVM development experience.
- Experience with Quarkus or Spring Boot, with willingness to work in Quarkus.
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and using OpenAPI or contract-first development.
- Automated testing discipline, including unit tests written alongside production code and comfort with contract and integration testing.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployment.
- Ability and willingness to work in an AI-agent-first development model using agentic platforms and AI coding assistants for implementation, design, and specification work.
