Responsibilities
- Operate and support Apple Data Platform services across multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Handle incident response, on-call responsibilities, production support, and fault analysis.
- Provide hands-on technical support to internal engineering customers and translate issues into diagnoses and resolutions.
- Own reliability roadmaps for assigned services and improve their scalability and operational maturity.
- Support big data engines, catalog and governance layers, ML/AI platform services, and data engineering systems.
- Implement observability through metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Automate manual operations through scripting and tooling.
- Partner with developers and internal teams to improve service reliability and deployment workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused role.
- Proficiency with production databases, distributed-SQL engines, query tuning, and optimization.
- Proficiency in Shell and Python scripting.
- Deep understanding of one or more of Spark, Flink, Airflow, Trino, or Notebooks.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and AWS services, including IAM, EKS, RDS, S3, and cloud storage and networking fundamentals.
- Strong experience implementing observability systems and practices at scale, using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and PagerDuty.
- Solid grounding in SRE principles and prior on-call, production-support, or customer-facing support experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-expert customers.
- Familiarity with MCP-based tooling and ML lifecycle or dataset management systems is preferred.
- Customer-facing or technical support experience and a demonstrated focus on customer success are preferred.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, data pipeline orchestration, and workflow scheduling patterns is preferred.
- Experience automating manual operations through scripting or tooling is preferred.
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and critically reviewing generated output is preferred.
