Base Salary
$149k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and productionize ML models for search, discovery, ranking, RAG, and generative AI features.
- Build and maintain scalable pipelines for training and evaluation datasets, annotation systems, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Collaborate with AI researchers on datasets, evaluation metrics, and model architectures.
- Partner with product engineers to define and deliver AI features across Figma’s platform.
- Work with infrastructure engineers to develop and optimize training, inference, monitoring, and deployment systems.
- Explore new technical approaches and help shape Figma’s long-term AI vision.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of industry software engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on applied machine learning or AI.
- Strong end-to-end experience developing, training, evaluating, deploying, and monitoring ML models.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Spark MLlib, or XGBoost.
- Experience building scalable data and annotation pipelines and evaluation systems for AI model quality.
- Experience mentoring or leading others and contributing to technical excellence and innovation.
- Preferred experience with search relevance, ranking, NLP, or RAG systems.
- Preferred experience with AI infrastructure and MLOps, including observability, CI/CD, and ML workflow automation.
- Preferred experience applying ML to creative or design-focused products.
- C++ or Go knowledge is a plus.
- Product mindset and ability to connect technical work to user outcomes and business impact.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
