Responsibilities
- Drive architectural direction for the database platform across SQL Server, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Snowflake.
- Own complex initiatives such as cross-region disaster recovery and platform refresh orchestration.
- Lead by example with exemplary code, design documents, and operational rigor.
- Engineer automation to reduce operational toil across various processes.
- Drive sustainable reductions in alert volume while improving signal quality.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for complex production incidents.
- Define reliability KPIs and build dashboards to track them.
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams on schema design and reliability patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 9+ years of professional engineering experience, including principal-level roles.
- Deep expertise in at least one major relational database platform (SQL Server or PostgreSQL).
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PowerShell, Go, or T-SQL.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering large-scale reliability initiatives.
- Experience leading complex incident response and post-incident improvement programs.
- Familiarity with observability platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
