Base Salary
$145k - $195k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services that process and serve media at scale.
- Write and review code, debug production issues, and operate systems in production.
- Work on distributed systems and video-processing pipelines supporting multiple streaming platforms.
- Collaborate with other teams when systems and work intersect.
- Share knowledge, provide feedback, and help teammates grow.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems.
- Strong JVM fundamentals and experience with Java or Scala, ideally both.
- Real-world experience with distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of AWS services including DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, and S3, plus PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, or Kiro.
- Ability to debug across service boundaries and communicate clearly in code, documentation, and conversation.
- Preferred: experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms, media or video-processing pipelines, Kubernetes, and observability tooling.
- Experience operating production systems and caring about how they run.
