Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and improve the virtual power plant system across data ingestion, processing, energy management, optimization, fleet control, accounting, and settlement.
- Implement optimization and automated trading algorithms for immediate production launches and long-term platform development.
- Work cross-functionally with data science and product teams to deliver optimization logic, trading execution, and battery control capabilities.
- Deploy and operate production systems on a major cloud platform.
- Maintain development environments and infrastructure covering service development, testing, building, integration, and monitoring.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues, support onboarding and daily operations, and improve team workflows.
- Define engineering best practices and teach engineers and data scientists how to design maintainable and iterative solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend and algorithmic development in the cloud.
- 2–3 years of experience with Python and object-oriented design.
- 2+ years of experience onboarding, mentoring, and coaching junior colleagues.
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating production systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience working cross-functionally, especially with Product and Data Science teams.
- Evidence of pragmatic delivery, strategic and analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Full business proficiency in English.
- Strong AWS experience and familiarity with ECS, RDS, Lambda, SQS, and S3 are preferred.
- Energy industry experience is preferred.
