Senior Backend Developer, SCM Tech Fulfillment
HelloFreshResponsibilities
- Build, enhance, and co-own the Python-based algorithmic engine for automated production planning, including deterministic and constraint-based components.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services with FastAPI.
- Work across architecture, implementation, deployment, and operations in the AWS and Kubernetes technology ecosystem.
- Translate domain knowledge from engineers, analysts, and planners into robust, maintainable system logic.
- Contribute to the platform’s evolution toward event-driven patterns using Kafka.
- Support the internal React application and integration between frontend and backend layers.
- Improve system reliability through automated testing, performance tuning, and thoughtful design.
- Participate in pairing, design discussions, knowledge sharing, and shaping the platform’s future direction.
Requirements
- Strong Python engineering fundamentals.
- Professional experience with Kubernetes in a production environment.
- Hands-on AWS experience; familiarity with EKS, RDS, S3, and ElastiCache is advantageous.
- Comfort with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and writing SQL for day-to-day backend work.
- Experience owning features, bugs, and other work across the full lifecycle of a production system.
- Apache Airflow experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate directly and candidly across engineering, analytics, and operations.
