Responsibilities
- Build backend systems, web-based monitoring platforms, visualization tools, and data analysis pipelines for health user studies.
- Develop operator-facing tools and dashboards that provide real-time insight into study health and data quality.
- Integrate LLM-based functionality using OpenAI and Anthropic APIs into production web tools.
- Use LLMs across a closed-loop development workflow spanning planning, architecture, design review, implementation, pull request generation, and deployment.
- Partner with researchers, engineers, and study operations teams to gather requirements, understand workflows, and prioritize improvements.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and influence technical and product roadmaps.
- Handle sensitive health data in accordance with Apple's privacy-first policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or equivalent relevant proven experience with biomedical, health, or sensitive data.
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong software development skills with proficiency in Python.
- Experience integrating LLM-based functionality, such as OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, into production web tools.
- Experience using LLMs in a closed-loop software development workflow.
- Preferred: 7+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of backend web service development.
- Preferred: experience with web application backends for data monitoring and visualization, distributed data processing, cloud systems, Kubernetes, workflow orchestration, Git, Docker, Jupyter notebooks, Linux, and time-series data analysis.
- Preferred: experience leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, influencing roadmaps, and working directly with stakeholders.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data under strict privacy requirements.
