Base Salary
$266k - $442k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the Android Player test strategy across unit, integration, screenshot, and end-to-end testing layers.
- Build automation frameworks, test harnesses, tooling, and CI infrastructure.
- Expand automated coverage for live events and ad-supported playback.
- Manage device coverage and shared Android device-lab capacity to maximize reliable test signal.
- Reduce test flakiness and runtime, and retire tests that no longer inform decisions.
- Support weekly release readiness and live-event readiness, including participation in the on-call rotation.
- Raise team-wide quality and testability through code review, mentorship, and cross-functional influence.
Requirements
- Deep experience ensuring the quality of consumer Android applications at scale.
- Strong proficiency with Kotlin, Java, and the Android SDK.
- Experience building test frameworks, harnesses, and CI tooling from the ground up.
- Experience testing across unit, Robolectric, integration, screenshot, and on-device suites.
- Knowledge of audio/video streaming, adaptive streaming, DRM, codecs, hardware and software decoding, and player frameworks such as ExoPlayer.
- First-hand knowledge of Android device hardware capabilities across SoCs, OEMs, and device generations.
- Experience applying AI tooling to testing, including test generation, failure triage, flakiness analysis, or coverage improvement.
- Ability to determine what should be automated versus manual using data and judgment.
- Systems-thinking ability across client, network, and backend interactions.
- Clear communication and collaboration with engineering, product management, and data science partners.
