Responsibilities
- Build and evolve telemetry pipelines for logs, metrics, and events across accredited environments.
- Engineer Splunk distributed architecture, index design, data onboarding, and search performance.
- Automate source onboarding and manage pipeline configuration as code through GitOps and Terraform.
- Apply AI tooling to parser generation, schema mapping, and normalization.
- Detect silent sources, schema drift, and volume or cost anomalies before downstream impact.
- Design reduction, cardinality, retention, and masking strategies to control costs and protect sensitive data.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience engineering enterprise-scale telemetry, log, or event data pipelines.
- Experience with Cribl Stream, OpenTelemetry Collector, Vector, Fluent Bit, Logstash, or comparable telemetry routing tiers.
- Experience with query languages such as SPL, DQL, LogQL, PromQL, or KQL.
- Experience managing data volume, cardinality, retention, and cost under consumption-based licensing.
- Experience with configuration as code, GitOps, and Terraform across multiple environments.
- Production programming experience in a language such as Python, REST API development, and Linux and Windows administration.
- Ability to learn new query languages.
- Secret clearance is required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering.
- Preferred experience includes OpenTelemetry Collector processors, sensitive-data masking, AI-assisted data engineering, DoD Azure or AWS IL5/IL6 environments, CIM-compliant data engineering, and Cribl or Splunk certifications.
