Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the Core OS architecture and long-term roadmap for hypervisors, virtualization, virtual-machine lifecycle, resource partitioning, inter-VM communication, boot, and secure boot.
- Architect a shared vehicle-compute foundation for embedded Linux, Android, and QNX with consistent platform services and interfaces.
- Establish safety architecture covering partition isolation, health monitoring, fault detection, recovery, and collaboration with functional-safety and cybersecurity organizations.
- Define container and workload-management architecture, including isolation, lifecycle management, resource governance, and updateability.
- Own performance strategy across compute efficiency, latency, boot time, memory footprint, and deterministic behavior, and lead optimization across software and hardware boundaries.
- Lead build-versus-buy and technology-selection decisions and technical relationships with hypervisor, real-time operating system, and runtime suppliers.
- Provide technical mentorship and direction to Staff and Senior Software Engineers and establish engineering standards and review practices.
- Lead root-cause investigations across virtualization, operating-system, and silicon boundaries and represent Core OS in technical councils and architecture reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 15 years of embedded, kernel-level, or systems software development experience, including production-grade systems.
- Proven experience architecting operating-system or virtualization platforms for high-performance or safety-critical systems.
- Deep expertise in at least two areas including Type 1 hypervisors and virtualization, real-time operating systems, embedded Linux internals, and secure boot and platform integrity.
- Strong knowledge of Arm SoC architecture, including memory management, interrupt and I/O virtualization, and hardware-enforced isolation.
- Experience leading multi-team or cross-functional technical programs from concept through production.
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub, continuous integration and continuous delivery, automated testing, and performance profiling.
- Preferred: master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Gunyah, QNX Hypervisor, Xen, KVM/Arm, or virtio-based device virtualization.
- Preferred: automotive functional-safety expertise, including ASIL decomposition, safety-island architecture, freedom-from-interference arguments, and safety-framework integration.
- Preferred: experience with embedded container runtimes, workload orchestration, health monitoring, fail-operational and fail-safe mechanisms, platform resiliency, AUTOSAR, SOAFEE, OTA architectures, or open-source OS and virtualization projects.
