Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable microservices and APIs for consumer profile, orchestration, and data services.
- Define service boundaries, data models, and interaction patterns for distributed systems.
- Build and scale high-performance Java and Spring Boot services in a cloud-native environment.
- Own services through design, implementation, production operations, incident response, monitoring, logging, and runbooks.
- Drive platform modernization, data migration, automation, observability, and operational resilience improvements.
- Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing strategies, infrastructure, and delivery practices.
- Partner with identity, commerce, loyalty, data, product, security, and privacy teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Influence architecture and technical direction while mentoring engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems and distributed architectures.
- Proven experience designing and building microservices-based platforms at scale.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native development, with GCP preferred.
- Experience with delivery pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tooling.
- Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL data models and backend system design.
- Experience leading technical initiatives or influencing engineering direction.
- Ability to operate in complex distributed systems and solve challenging technical problems.
- Preferred: experience with AWS or other cloud platforms beyond GCP.
- Preferred: experience with authentication and identity systems such as OAuth, JWT, Auth0, or Okta.
- Preferred: experience with data migration, ETL pipelines, or platform modernization.
- Preferred: familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or Claude.
