Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance backend services and asynchronous applications using Rust.
- Build and consume REST and gRPC APIs for entitlement, playback authorization, device registration, and catalog services.
- Develop data access layers, schemas, migrations, transactions, connection management, indexing strategies, caching mechanisms, and optimized database access patterns.
- Integrate AWS services and relational and NoSQL databases, including production data systems.
- Create and maintain unit, integration, database, and performance test suites.
- Participate in code reviews, CI/CD, release activities, deployment validation, rollback procedures, and operational readiness.
- Analyze production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, resolve application and database issues, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
- Provide technical guidance, effort estimates, risk assessments, mentoring, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Participate in production support and on-call activities.
Requirements
- Rust and AWS Cloud are mandatory primary skills.
- At least 5 years of experience is required; the posting additionally specifies 8–10 years of relevant Rust and distributed-systems experience and 15+ years of total experience.
- Strong Rust programming experience, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, enums, pattern matching, error handling, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and shared-state handling.
- Experience with Tokio, Futures, Axum, Actix Web, Tonic, Serde, Cargo, Rust testing, Clippy, and rustfmt.
- Strong SQL and database design expertise with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, and OpenSearch.
- Experience with SQLx, Diesel, SeaORM, tokio-postgres, or similar Rust database libraries, plus schema design, indexing, migrations, transactions, replication, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon OpenSearch, Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, and AWS IAM.
- Experience with Git, Docker, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, production troubleshooting, incident resolution, and technical reviews.
- Preferred experience includes OTT, streaming, broadcast, or digital media platforms; HLS, DASH, DRM, Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay, CDN, SSAI, Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Grafana, Datadog, Elastic Stack, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, FFI, WebAssembly, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, and ITSM processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
