Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for the Cash Forecasting platform while contributing to frontend work as needed.
- Develop scalable changes in a large, sophisticated, multi-tenant SaaS codebase serving enterprise customers.
- Own data-layer responsibilities including schema design, query performance, and data integrity with emphasis on PostgreSQL and SQL.
- Write and maintain thorough automated test coverage using RSpec.
- Package and deploy services with Docker within AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Create scripts and tooling for automation, repetitive tasks, and data migrations.
- Implement observability through logging, metrics, and tracing.
- Benchmark and profile code to identify and address performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate customer and business needs into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Participate in the on-call pager rotation under the you-build-it-you-run-it ethos.
Requirements
- 4-8 years of professional software development experience, ideally including backend-leaning full-stack work.
- Strong SQL fundamentals and hands-on PostgreSQL experience preferred.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in large, sophisticated existing codebases.
- Scripting ability for automation and tooling.
- Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
- Proven Git proficiency, including collaborative branching workflows.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Ruby, Python, or Java.
- Experience using AI tools throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience testing with RSpec.
- Ruby or Ruby on Rails experience is preferred.
- Frontend experience with React is preferred.
- AWS experience or solid understanding is preferred.
- Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with observability practices and tooling, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting, is preferred.
- Experience benchmarking and profiling code for performance is preferred.
- Financial-industry experience, particularly in treasury, payments, FX, or ERP systems, is preferred.
