Responsibilities
- Set the team’s technical direction, including architecture, engineering standards, and speed-versus-quality trade-offs.
- Lead the design and delivery of major initiatives from proposal through production and break work into incremental deliverables.
- Write and review production code across backend services and the React frontend.
- Use AI coding assistants and agents in daily development and help the team adopt effective quality-control workflows.
- Integrate AI capabilities into the outbound product in partnership with the AI Voice Agents team.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, and coaching while growing technical leadership across the team.
- Own observability, alerting, runbooks, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Partner with Product and Design to convert product goals into technical plans and coordinate with dependent engineering teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience leading the technical work of a team.
- Production-grade TypeScript and Node.js experience.
- End-to-end React experience owning frontend components.
- Experience with AWS cloud architectures, including EKS.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs, AppSync, and event-driven SQS/SNS workers.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and designing observability metrics, monitors, and dashboards using Datadog or similar tools.
- Experience leading architecture decisions, design reviews, delivery, quality, and multi-quarter technical initiatives.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving a team’s code, design, and operational standards.
- Daily experience using AI coding assistants or agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with methods for validating their output.
- Ability to own backend services and React frontend work, lead through influence, focus on customer impact, work through ambiguity, and collaborate with technical and non-technical partners.
- Telephony or dialer experience, CRM integrations, Twilio Programmable Voice, TwiML, call status webhooks, conferences, or production AI/LLM feature experience is preferred.
