Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain reliable, scalable backend services for AI agent execution and orchestration.
  • Develop AI agent systems for complex operational workflows.
  • Orchestrate hybrid model stacks using commercial APIs, self-hosted models, and fine-tuned LLMs.
  • Build and maintain integrations with clinical systems.
  • Drive observability and reliability for AI systems.
  • Design GraphQL and REST APIs, background workers, and event-driven systems.
  • Collaborate with data science, ML, and engineering teams to deploy AI features and improve backend performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in more than one major programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, or Kotlin.
  • Understanding of AI systems architecture and experience with AI agents, LLMs, or inference pipelines.
  • Experience building and scaling backend APIs, microservices, and background jobs.
  • Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Experience with message brokers and distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js/NestJS is advantageous.
  • Experience with clinical systems and healthcare data standards such as FHIR and EMR/EHR is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or LiteLLM is advantageous.
  • Experience orchestrating commercial APIs with self-hosted or fine-tuned LLMs is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Langfuse and OpenTelemetry is advantageous.
