Responsibilities
- Define the long-term technical vision and architecture for the Fabric Data Warehouse Distributed Query Processing platform.
- Lead the design and evolution of distributed execution, scheduling, resource management, workload isolation, and performance optimization technologies.
- Solve distributed-systems challenges involving scale, concurrency, fault tolerance, elasticity, efficiency, and service reliability.
- Establish architectural standards, engineering practices, technical governance, and design-review processes.
- Partner across engineering, product management, design, data science, and other teams to deliver end-to-end analytics solutions.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders and foster technical excellence and innovation.
- Lead cross-organizational initiatives advancing the Microsoft Fabric analytics platform.
- Use AI-driven development practices, automation, and intelligent observability to improve engineering productivity and platform reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Strong distributed-systems experience and understanding of scale, resiliency, and reliability patterns.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other applicable security-screening requirements.
- Preferred: Master’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Strong AI-first mindset, growth orientation, and interest in improving engineering effectiveness and customer outcomes.
Benefits
- Base pay is listed at USD $142,800–$274,800 per year across the U.S., with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $188,000–$304,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
