Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize high-value sourcing and supply-chain opportunities for agentic AI, machine learning, and automation.
- Translate stakeholder needs into AI tools, technical designs, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans.
- Build and deploy AI-enabled applications, services, workflows, agents, and document-intelligence systems.
- Develop reusable agent skills, task harnesses, validators, run ledgers, reproducibility controls, and knowledge-extraction systems.
- Create evaluation, monitoring, guardrail, escalation, validation, and responsible-AI approaches for high-consequence decisions.
- Build the PRD Supply Chain Intelligence agent from feasibility through production pilot.
- Communicate model outputs, evidence, assumptions, limitations, uncertainty, and recommendations through decision-support outputs.
- Apply software engineering, MLOps, agent-ops, observability, testing, documentation, and cloud practices.
- Partner with ESCO, PRD Strategy, Procurement, functional leaders, and Tech@Lilly on enterprise data and platform alignment.
- Advance ESCO’s agentic AI roadmap, share reusable methods, and mentor team members and partners.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in computational/computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, engineering, or a closely related quantitative STEM field.
- At least 5 years of post-degree experience in a relevant computational, AI/ML, engineering, or quantitative field.
- At least 2 years of applied technical experience building AI or machine-learning solutions in Python, R, or a related programming language.
- At least 3 years of experience with strategic thinking, problem framing, and translating ambiguous business needs into AI, modeling, or automation workflows.
- Ability to communicate technical recommendations, assumptions, uncertainty, and limitations to sourcing, procurement, and business audiences.
- Preferred PhD and additional post-degree experience in a relevant field.
- Preferred experience applying AI/ML to pharmaceutical, life-sciences, supply-chain, or sourcing problems.
- Strong SQL, relational data modeling, cloud-platform, Git, container, CI/CD, experiment-tracking, and run-tracking experience preferred.
- Preferred experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, structured knowledge representation, agent frameworks, orchestration, RAG, LLM engineering, evaluations, LLMOps, guardrails, and safety design.
- Preferred familiarity with pharmaceutical or regulated-industry supply chains and evidence of significant ML/AI/NLP publications, open-source work, or applied contributions.
