Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sustainable finance experts to develop systems that identify, categorize, and assess sustainability risks.
- Own cross-team ML projects end-to-end from research and experimentation through production deployment.
- Research and train machine learning models for assessing and managing sustainability risks.
- Design and build real-time NLP pipelines using large language models.
- Develop evaluation frameworks and annotation tooling to improve models continuously.
- Track current research in NLP, LLMs, and estimation techniques and incorporate relevant findings.
- Represent Bloomberg at scientific and industry conferences and in open-source communities.
- Publish product and research findings in documentation, whitepapers, or academic publications.
Requirements
- Experience building production ML systems, preferably with exposure to sustainability or responsible investment problems.
- Practical experience with machine learning and large language models.
- Ph.D. in ML, NLP, or a relevant field, or an M.Sc. in computer science, ML, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field with previous relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Python software engineering and production ML infrastructure, including model serving, data pipelines, and evaluation frameworks.
- Familiarity with LLM-based systems for structured information extraction from unstructured text.
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms and a data-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineering peers and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Interest in sustainability or climate finance is a strong plus.
- A record of publications in top conferences and journals is a strong plus.
