Responsibilities
- Serve as the technology lead for MUFG Trade Finance solutions and establish technical direction aligned with business priorities, security requirements, and enterprise standards.
- Translate business and operational requirements into technical specifications, target-state designs, and executable engineering plans.
- Design and contribute to applications, APIs, integrations, data pipelines, infrastructure, and platform capabilities.
- Define engineering standards for coding, testing, security, observability, performance, resilience, and continuous delivery.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and design support to engineers without direct people-management responsibility.
- Evaluate platforms and emerging technologies, contribute to business cases, and recommend solutions.
- Guide third-party integrations and collaborate with external partners and vendors on modernization efforts.
- Oversee technical quality across design, development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor application performance, reliability, security, and maintainability, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform complex application design and development using technologies such as Scala, Java, Node.js, REST APIs, AWS, Spark, Kubernetes, Docker, and Jenkins.
- Define AI strategy, evaluate business cases, establish governance controls, and guide AI-enabled transformation initiatives.
- Stay current with Trade Finance, enterprise technology, AI, and generative AI trends and apply relevant innovations responsibly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 10 years of hands-on software development experience, including at least five years providing leadership across complex applications or platforms.
- Strong knowledge of commercial banking products, including lending, Trade Finance, and Supply Chain Finance.
- Experience with CGI Trade360, Loan IQ, or another Trade Finance application is preferred.
- Proficiency in application and solution architecture, APIs, integration patterns, and cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Application development experience with data platforms, SQL, ETL tools such as Informatica or Glue, Spark, and object-oriented languages such as Python or C#.
- Experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and CI/CD pipelines for application delivery.
- Experience influencing technical direction, facilitating architecture decisions, and working with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI services, Amazon Bedrock, or equivalent enterprise AI platforms.
- Understanding of data engineering, data quality, and model lifecycle management for enterprise AI adoption.
- Ability to define AI strategy, evaluate business cases, establish governance controls, and guide AI transformation initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical troubleshooting skills.
- General understanding of user interface design principles and best practices.

- Hybrid schedule requiring four days per week at an MUFG office or client site and one remote day.
- Base pay range of $149K-$205K in New York/New Jersey and $149K-$188K in other locations, depending on qualifications and location.
