Base Salary
$229k - $314k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the long-term technical direction and multi-year architecture for query observability, warehouse management, and account-level governance.
- Design and lead high-impact projects improving customer performance, reliability, and cost transparency.
- Build extensible agentic observability and governance experiences for investigating, diagnosing, and acting on telemetry across query, warehouse, workspace, and account levels.
- Partner with Databricks SQL, Unity Catalog, AI, security, and platform teams to integrate visibility and governance across the data and control planes.
- Mentor senior engineers, establish technical standards, and recruit engineering talent.
- Champion reliable, high-quality software and operational practices for product surfaces used by tens of thousands of customers.
Requirements
- 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems, observability or governance platforms, databases, or backend infrastructure.
- Proven technical leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, including long-term architecture and incremental customer delivery.
- Deep computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and systems design applied to high-throughput problems.
- Experience with observability and telemetry pipelines, query engines and analytics, distributed tracing and metrics, time-series storage, data governance, or large-scale logging systems.
- Strong communication skills for aligning engineering, product, and infrastructure partners on technical strategy and trade-offs.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; an MS or PhD is a plus.
- Experience building agentic experiences using LLMs is a bonus.
