Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and architecture of custom software solutions.
- Lead teams through software design and delivery while setting development standards for quality, scalability, and performance.
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Implement, test, maintain, and support software based on technical designs.
- Review requirements, analysis, design documents, architecture, and code changes.
- Improve existing applications and codebases by identifying issues, patterns, and enhancement opportunities.
- Design and implement robust, highly scalable web services and distributed systems.
- Investigate and apply new technologies where relevant.
- Collaborate with colleagues, product management, stakeholders, and customer support to resolve technical issues.
- Mentor less experienced developers and lead or participate in additional projects as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of experience in Java Enterprise Edition and at least 10 years developing systems or software for large business environments.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master's degree is a plus.
- Strong object-oriented design and SOA principles with the ability to implement them in Java or another language.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, CI/CD DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit, test-driven, functional, and performance testing.
- Experience with database systems and data architecture, including SQL and NoSQL systems.
- React front-end experience, Pulsar event-bus integration, and Snowflake experience are preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data and machine-learning technologies and the ability to work across business, product, architecture, and implementation levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
