Base Salary
$194k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and productionize end-to-end AI agents that automate scientific workflows including experiment design, data analysis, and report writing.
- Work directly with customers and scientific teams to ideate use cases, gather feedback, build evaluations, and support onboarding.
- Develop LLM-powered backend primitives and intuitive frontend interfaces within Benchling applications.
- Improve the agent platform through frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure that accelerate future agent development.
- Drive experimentation and contribute to Benchling’s technical direction and AI engineering practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems.
- Experience across the stack, including backend systems using Python or similar languages and modern frontend frameworks such as React or equivalent.
- Strong product sense and ability to iterate based on user feedback and data.
- Curiosity about LLMs and AI agents and interest in applying them to scientific research.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers, scientists, customers, and scientific teams.
- Willingness to learn biotechnology; prior biotechnology knowledge is not required.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and rapid experimentation.
