Base Salary
$174k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Scope and lead research efforts to improve frontier Gemini capabilities such as multi-turn interaction, factuality, and tool use.
- Review current research literature to guide experimental directions.
- Curate and generate data and design human and automated evaluation strategies for Gemini capabilities.
- Design and conduct supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning experiments.
- Collaborate with research, engineering, product, and partner teams to deliver model capabilities to production and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Five years of software engineering experience using Python.
- At least one year of experience with LLM post-training, model alignment, or core generative model development in an industry AI lab, research institute, or frontier AI organization.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as JAX and Flax for distributed systems and accelerator clusters.
- At least one first-author paper accepted or published at an LLM-related conference such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, or EMNLP.
- Preferred qualifications include a PhD, five years of experience in industry AI research labs or premier research institutes, experience with evaluation frameworks and data curation pipelines, multi-turn conversational modeling, long-context reasoning, tool use, search grounding, and distributed training optimization.
- A strong publication record with multiple first-author or core-contributor papers in premier machine learning or NLP conferences is preferred.
Benefits
- US base salary of $174000-$252000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
