Base Salary
$200k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve product and platform architecture, including service boundaries, integration patterns, data models, API standards, and global cloud deployment strategies.
- Lead architecture reviews, influence roadmaps, drive cross-team execution, and make durable technical tradeoffs.
- Evaluate and introduce technologies, establish best practices for design, testing, secure coding, CI/CD, and production readiness, and create reference implementations and templates.
- Solve complex cross-team problems involving modernization, refactoring, performance tuning, data migrations, distributed systems, and production incidents.
- Support FedRAMP and government cloud certification readiness by shaping technical control implementation plans with Security and Compliance.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads and build architecture guilds, technical talks, post-incident reviews, and design workshops.
Requirements
- Ten years of overall professional experience, including at least five years as a Staff or Principal Engineer at B2B SaaS startups.
- Strong working knowledge of Java/J2EE, Oracle, Postgres, AWS, GCP, Azure, and modern frontend frameworks such as React and Vue.js.
- Proven ability to set architectural direction across multiple teams and make durable technical decisions involving scalability, reliability, performance, data consistency, and operational maturity.
- Experience operating global cloud systems at scale, including multi-region deployments, disaster recovery/business continuity planning, and observability.
- Experience supporting FedRAMP/government cloud certification or comparable regulated environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a track record of mentoring and coaching engineers across teams.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- Preferred experience includes shared services such as identity/authentication and platform APIs, Kubernetes, service meshes, developer productivity tooling, large-scale Java/J2EE modernization, and commercial real estate software.
