Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate edge software components with AWS cloud services and APIs.
- Design and implement robust interfaces for reliable operation in disconnected or high-latency environments.
- Collaborate with the Principal Cloud Tech Lead on contracts and protocols for secure, high-throughput device-to-cloud communication.
- Mentor and coach edge-team engineers on code quality, AWS integration practices, and pragmatic development.
- Identify technical risks and ensure the edge-to-cloud bridge is durable, secure, and reliable.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for software components running on radar devices.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Rust or C++ for high-performance middleware or services running on hardware or client devices.
- Experience with AWS IoT Core, AWS SDKs, and cloud services such as Kinesis, S3, and Lambda.
- At least three years of leadership experience as a Lead or Senior Engineer, including driving a small team to meet delivery commitments.
- Understanding of secure coding, authentication and authorization, X.509 certificates, IAM roles, and data privacy on edge devices.
- Understanding of the software stack from on-device telemetry and middleware through cloud-side ingestion layers.
- Ability to work effectively in rapid R&D or 0-to-1 environments while exercising sound engineering judgment.
- Python experience is preferred.
- Experience translating edge constraints such as latency and bandwidth into integration requirements is valued.
- U.S. citizenship, green card status, or asylum/refugee status may be required for eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain government authorizations.
