Responsibilities
- Own and ship Android features from design through implementation, rollout, monitoring, and rollback.
- Set and enforce mobile quality targets for crashes, startup performance, accessibility, security, and overall app quality.
- Lead Android architecture and standards covering modularization, design-system components, networking, and telemetry.
- Use feature flags, staged rollouts, server-driven configuration, kill switches, and rollback plans to ship safely.
- Instrument, monitor, and alert on errors, latency, jank, memory, battery, and app size.
- Define shared foundations with iOS and Web teams and close cross-platform experience gaps.
- Accelerate team delivery through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, documentation, and CI/build-time improvements.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data to prototype, experiment, and make decisions based on user signals.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience building large-scale Android applications and a record of shipping high-impact user features.
- Expertise in Kotlin and strong Gradle, Jetpack Compose/XML, ViewBinding, Java interoperability, Coroutines/Flow, and Android Profiler experience.
- Deep knowledge of networking with REST and Retrofit; offline and caching with Room; and secure storage with EncryptedSharedPreferences and Keystore.
- Experience with JUnit, Espresso, snapshot testing, Bitrise CI/CD, staged rollouts, feature flags, and reliable rollback processes.
- Demonstrated organization-level influence through multi-team designs, standards adoption, mentoring, and improved execution pace.
- Strong written and spoken communication, effective partnership with Product, Design, and Backend, and data-driven decision-making.
- C1 English proficiency.
- Preferred: Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: experience in cross-platform development.
