Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own production data pipelines ingesting data from SAP, retail POS systems, logistics platforms, and marketing channels.
- Lead migrations from legacy pipelines to modern, scalable architectures, including design decisions and cutover planning.
- Model data for analytics and AI use cases and establish standards for data products.
- Build pipeline observability, testing, and alerting to identify issues before they affect the business.
- Improve platform infrastructure and tooling and reduce operational toil through automation.
- Partner with commercial, marketing, and logistics stakeholders to translate ambiguous requests into well-scoped datasets.
- Review other engineers’ work and mentor junior engineers on SQL, Python, and pipeline design.
- Contribute to governance, documentation, platform standards, and AI-assisted workflows.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience building and running production data pipelines.
- Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning on large datasets.
- Strong Python skills for pipelines, automation, and tooling, plus working knowledge of version control, testing, and code review.
- Hands-on experience with dbt and a cloud data platform such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Proven orchestration experience and a track record of debugging and hardening production pipelines.
- Ability to own delivery end to end and work through ambiguity without close direction.
- Clear communication skills, including documenting decisions and explaining trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bonus experience with Spark, streaming, large-scale distributed processing, AWS or equivalent cloud platforms, Terraform, CI/CD for data, data contracts, data quality frameworks, LLM or AI-driven data workflows, mentoring, or workstream leadership.
