Responsibilities
- Own the cross-platform Rust peer runtime across Windows, Android, Linux, and eventually macOS, including lifecycle management, background tasks, networking, updates, and stability.
- Port the peer runtime to Android using NDK/JNI, foreground services, battery optimization handling, and device-farm integration.
- Integrate Cronet, C++, browserless HTTP clients, and native operating-system APIs with safe, tested Rust interfaces.
- Collect hardware and operating-system signals, analyze TCP/TLS/HTTP fingerprints, and collaborate with Browser and Antiban teams.
- Build per-device observability for uptime, drop-off rates, bandwidth, and success rates across the fleet.
- Add peer-level capabilities such as CAPTCHA solving and browser rendering while isolating untrusted pages and hosts.
- Participate in on-call rotations, post-mortems, architectural design, RFD authorship, and code reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production Rust experience shipping and maintaining software end-to-end.
- Production cross-platform Rust experience on at least two of Windows, macOS, and Android, including at least one mobile platform.
- Experience interfacing Rust with C/C++ libraries and native APIs such as JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX, including memory ownership and cross-language threading.
- Deep packet-level knowledge of TCP, TLS, and HTTP and experience analyzing network traffic and client fingerprints.
- Experience with instrumentation, fleet-health measurement, on-call operations, and reliability-focused software development.
- Security-conscious approach to running software on third-party devices and strong written communication for distributed teams.
- Preferred experience includes proxy networks, peer-to-peer applications, device farms, Chromium or Cronet internals, Firefox networking, anti-detection technologies, distributed fleet systems, web scraping, and open-source contributions.
Benefits
- Remote-first work from anywhere the employee is able to work, with flexible hours.
