Base Salary
$466k - $750k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate a core agent platform primitive end to end, including its reliability and day-two operations.
- Create structured, replayable agent trajectories, evaluation signals, memory capabilities, and feedback loops that improve agent behavior.
- Build tracing, quality, and guardrail surfaces that help teams evaluate agents and contain nondeterministic behavior before production.
- Set technical direction, make architecture decisions, and define interfaces for shared agent infrastructure.
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives with ML scientists, product managers, security, compute, and data partners.
- Iterate with agent developers and turn usage feedback into durable platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Typically 8+ years of software engineering experience shipping and operating production systems.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating production LLM agents that plan, call tools, observe results, and iterate.
- Experience building agent evaluation suites, tracing, and quality signals and using results to improve agent behavior.
- Strong experience designing and operating scalable, observable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Experience building SDKs, APIs, or libraries for other engineers, including contracts, versioning, and developer experience.
- Working fluency with modern agent frameworks, tool/function-calling patterns, and MCP.
- Proficiency in Python and its packaging tooling plus one of Java, Go, C, C++, Rust, or Zig.
- Track record of prioritizing work by business impact and partnering with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to drive both 0-to-1 and 1-to-100 work across a distributed US team.
- Preferred: experience with agent memory or state systems, identity and permissioning, guardrails and safety, cost governance, relevant open-source ecosystems, and Temporal, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, build, release, CI/CD, and observability practices.
