Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship critical backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and AI/ML-powered product features.
- Own technical architecture and hands-on implementation for scalable, performant, secure, and cost-effective systems.
- Build resilient, well-tested services that integrate across products and with external healthcare systems.
- Apply software engineering best practices across code quality, testing, security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Ensure implementations comply with HIPAA, GDPR, and other healthcare and data-protection requirements.
- Debug, profile, harden, monitor, and operate production systems, including incident response.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code reviews.
- Partner with product, clinical, and engineering stakeholders to define and deliver technical solutions.
- Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping large-scale production systems.
- Deep hands-on coding expertise in Python, Java, Go, or a similar modern language.
- Strong software design experience across distributed systems, backend services, APIs, and data-intensive architectures.
- Experience building and integrating AI/ML into products, including connecting models to production systems and managing data flows.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, performance tuning, and incident response.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7 and regulatory requirements including HIPAA and GDPR, or the ability to learn a regulated domain quickly.
- Strong experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-alignment skills.
