Base Salary
$230k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define multi-year technical strategy and architecture for agentic workflow infrastructure supporting the full product portfolio.
- Represent applied AI engineering in leadership decisions about product direction, build-versus-buy choices, and platform investment.
- Set organization-wide standards for LLM evaluation, deployment, safety, and monitoring.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for complex, high-ambiguity problems across product lines.
- Mentor and develop Staff-level engineers and help shape the technical career ladder for applied AI roles.
- Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and techniques, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral offerings.
- Partner with founders and engineering leadership to align AI infrastructure investment with company strategy.
Requirements
- Python is required, along with a deep software engineering foundation and experience architecting company-wide systems.
- At least 8 years of experience building production software, including at least 4 years building and scaling AI-powered or LLM-driven applications in production.
- Experience setting technical direction and standards adopted across multiple teams.
- Deep expertise in MLOps, model deployment, and workflow automation at an organizational or platform level.
- Ability to operate autonomously on ambiguous, high-stakes technical and strategic problems.
- Strong record of influencing technical decisions at the leadership level, including with non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years or master’s degree plus 8 years in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Recognized expertise in applied AI or agentic systems through talks, publications, open source, or platform-level roles is desirable.
- Experience building AI infrastructure in a regulated or high-stakes domain is desirable.
- Experience founding or scaling a technical function in a startup environment is desirable.
- Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping technical career ladders is desirable.
