Base Salary
$100k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Audit existing analytics applications, technology choices, data flows, and integration points.
- Design and implement APIs, event streams, and shared data contracts to connect siloed applications.
- Evaluate build, consolidation, and federation tradeoffs and document architecture decisions.
- Build and maintain shared platform services for authentication, observability, configuration management, and logging.
- Understand and improve distributed data pipelines, including their sources, transformations, dependencies, schema management, and data quality monitoring.
- Build a unified presentation layer across Spark, other distributed compute environments, and relational databases.
- Deploy and manage platform services on cloud infrastructure and contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps/SRE on deployment pipelines and reliability standards.
- Develop business cases for cloud feature adoption that address value, risk reduction, and compliance.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year focused on integration, platform, or infrastructure work.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or a similar backend language; proficiency in two or more languages is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Experience building and operating ETL/ELT data pipelines, including schema management and data quality monitoring.
- Professional experience using AI-assisted development tooling.
- Strong written communication skills for architecture decision records, runbooks, and design documents.
- Preferred experience evaluating and rationalizing heterogeneous technology stacks.
- Preferred familiarity with Airflow, dbt, MLflow, Spark, or comparable analytics and ML platform tooling.
- Preferred experience with API gateway management, service mesh, or distributed tracing tooling.
- Preferred experience working with structured SQL and semi-structured JSON, Parquet, or Avro data at scale.
