Responsibilities
- Build and iteratively refine machine learning model pipelines for Apple product experiences.
- Conduct experiments and create prototypes for new NLP and machine learning approaches.
- Implement infrastructure and building blocks that integrate research innovations into production pipelines.
- Develop evaluation metrics to measure model progress and quality.
- Optimize models for different hardware backends and user interfaces.
- Contribute to user-facing Apple Intelligence features including Writing Tools, Summarization, Found In Apps, Smart Replies, autocorrection, suggestions, and inline completions.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 2 years of industry experience.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience developing production-quality Python modules.
- Solid background in machine learning, data science, natural language processing, or statistics.
- Preferred: experience building and maintaining end-to-end model pipelines from data curation through evaluation.
- Preferred: ability to design and perform experiments that bring ML and NLP research ideas into production.
- Preferred: familiarity with LLMs, SFT, RLHF, prompt engineering, data synthesis, automatic evaluation, and RAG.
- Preferred: experience developing in Python and/or Swift.
- Preferred: record of publications, innovations, and/or leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
